In a recent development, FSSAI is planning to introduce front-of-pack nutrition labelling. In this connection, the Dairy Board welcomes the draft-notification by FSSAI on Indian-Nutrition-Rating ( INR ) system proposing to assign 0.5 to 5 stars with the objective of helping consumers to be selective for healthy food. The Dairy Board has further suggested a separate and appropriate mechanism to ensure ascribing milk and milk products with their due and high star rating, promoting consumption of milk and milk products, in wake of the fact that milk contains an array of nutrients and is considered a complete food consumed across the age.
