Ovum pick-up, In vitro embryo production and Embryo Transfer (OPU-IVEP-ET) technology which is widely used for propagating superior bovine dairy genetics, holds immense promise for transforming the dairy landscape in India. NDDB’s OPU-IVEP-ET facility is focussed to enhance the efficiency of the technique for both cattle and buffaloes. The centre is acting as a hub for manpower development and futuristic research in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technologies, creating an ecosystem for transfer of the advanced technologies in the field for enhancement of productivity.
To reduce the cost of embryo production and make the technology affordable to the Indian dairy farmers, NDDB has developed indigenous IVF media suite in collaboration with Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL), Hyderabad, a wholly owned subsidiary of NDDB.
NDDB has adopted a sustainable “Hub and Spoke” model for propagation of the IVF technology in the field under Indian conditions.
