Providing Technical Support to Cattle Feed Plants (CFPs)

  • Generally, rations fed to dairy animals often contain inadequate energy, protein, minerals and vitamins, leading to imbalance of nutrients. Compound cattle feed, which is a balanced mix of grains, brans, protein meals/cakes, chunnies, agro-industrial by-products, molasses, minerals and vitamins, helps in taking care of proper nutrition of dairy animals.
  • NDDB provides technical and financial support to dairy cooperatives in setting up cattle feed plants. These plants produce cattle feed variants, such as BIS Type I and II, buffalo feed, pregnancy feed, calf starter, etc.
  • NDDB developed Least Cost Formulation (LCF) software to be used by CFPs. Cattle feed portal has also been developed for day-to-day interaction with CFP officials.
  • Every year about 800 tonnes per day capacity is being added by the dairy cooperatives.
